After the renovations, Aston has become slightly bigger and most importantly, cooler! The temperature inside is always a big minus for the dining.

Their options for us to choose two side dishes for each main dish is applaudable since I normally hate whipped potatoes! Try their garden veggies! Beside the steaks, I think their fish n chips are not bad and their lamb chops are great! Unfortunately, I think their chicken dishes are not really to my satisfaction.

I greatly hope that people will stop thronging the place so that I dun need to queue so long just to get a place inside! But i dun think my hopes will be easily fufilled.

The buzz: The new and improved Aston Specialties sees hungry hordes at its door each lunch and dinner time. If you’re lucky to nab a seat, you’ll find the wait for your food slightly longer than at most coffeeshops or hawker centres. But you’re likely to forgive that fact when you sink your teeth into Astons' fare. The menu features the usual suspects - steaks, chicken, fish, pork chop, ribs and burgers - but regulars swear by the joint’s beef dishes. The Rib Eye Steak, priced at SGD 14.50, is a thick, succulent slab of perfectly grilled beef - better than those served at many steak houses. The Aston ieatSuperburger - 200g of chopped sirloin with bacon, cheese, tomato, onions and fried egg in a sesame bun - is a steal at only SGD 12.50.

Check out: For carnivores who wonder what the deal is with Wagyu, Astons' Wagyu Ribeye, added to the menu only in October, lets you finally answer that question without burning a hole in your pocket. At SGD 38.50, the 200g Wagyu Ribeye, with two side dishes, is great value for money. Just remember you have to order it three days in advance.

Opening hours: 12 noon to 1am (Tuesday to Thursday); 12 noon to 3am (Friday to Saturday); 12 noon to 1am (Sunday)
